Community forum to be held in Canberra
The Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse, together with the ACT Council of Social Service (ACTCOSS), will hold a community forum in Canberra next week.
Royal Commission CEO Janette Dines said the forum provided an important opportunity for interested individuals and community groups in Canberra to learn more about the Royal Commission.
“The forum is open to all individuals, community groups and service providers in the Canberra region who have an interest in the work of the Royal Commission,” Ms Dines said.
“Community groups and service providers play an important role in supporting people to engage with the Royal Commission and the information presented at the Canberra forum will assist them in this important work.
“We strongly encourage all survivors who wish to share their story, particularly in a private session with a Commissioner, to make contact with the Royal Commission by phone, email or in writing.”
The forum will be chaired by Commissioner Robert Fitzgerald AM.
If you experienced sexual abuse as a child while in the care of an Australian institution, or belong to an organisation assisting those who have been abused, you are invited to contact the Royal Commission by telephoning 1800 099 340 or emailing contact@childabuseroyalcommission.gov.au
