Protecting your privacy online
The Royal Commission is committed to protecting your privacy online. Any personal information you provide to the Royal Commission will be handled carefully and every effort made to ensure it is collected, used, stored and disclosed in a manner consistent with the Privacy Act 1988. Please note that the Royal Commission is not subject to the Privacy Act.
Information logged
When you visit this site, our server logs the following information:
- the type of browser and operating system you are using
- the address of the referring site (for example, the previous site that you visited)
- your IP address (a number which is unique to the modem, router or gateway through which you are connected to the internet)
- the date, time and address of each page you visit within our website, and
- the date, time and address of each document you download from our website.
This information is used only for statistical analysis and systems administration purposes. No attempt is made to identify users or their browsing activities. The exception is where a law enforcement agency is undertaking an investigation and has legal authority to identify users and/or their browsing activities.
Cookies
