Public hearing into the Australian Defence Force
The Royal Commission is holding a public hearing in Sydney from Tuesday, 21 June 2016 commencing at 10:00am AEST.
The public hearing will inquire into the experiences of men and women who were sexually abused as children in certain divisions of the Australian Defence Force.
Location
The hearing will be held at Level 17, Governor Macquarie Tower, 1 Farrer Place, Sydney.
The scope and purpose of the public hearing is to inquire into:
1. The experiences of survivors of child sexual abuse of the following institutions operated by the Australian Defence Force (ADF):
a. HMAS Leeuwin in the period 1960 to 1980
b. The Army Apprentice School Balcombe in the period 1970 to 1980, and
c. ADF Cadets in the period 2000 to present.
2. The systems, policies, practices and procedures of the ADF and the ADF Cadets to prevent child sexual abuse, and raising and responding to concerns and complaints about child sexual abuse, in the above listed institutions.
3. Any related matters.
