The Royal Commission held a public hearing in Sydney from Monday 18 to Wednesday 27 November 2013 and on Friday 24 January 2014.
The public hearing inquired into the handling of complaints and civil litigation concerning child sexual abuse in the North Coast Children’s Home by the Anglican Diocese of Grafton in 2006 and 2007.
The scope and purpose of the public hearing was to inquire into:

The response of the Anglican Diocese of Grafton to claims of child sexual abuse of persons previously resident at the North Coast Children’s Home in Lismore, New South Wales.

The policies and procedures adopted and applied by the Diocese of Grafton for the handling of such claims.

The response of the Dioceses of Grafton and Newcastle to allegations of child sexual abuse by Allan Kitchingman and related acts and offences.
